“To My Motherland” At the Philadelphia Latino Film Festival

From volunteer to official selection at the Philadelphia Latino Film Festival! This year will be the second in a row when I volunteer at the festival. To top it off, my short film To My Mother Land was accepted into the Youth Showcase!

This year, my best friend Kellie Dinh joined me in volunteering with the Advertising Street Team. Two minds are better than one and, together, we worked on the PHLAFF Instagram. Documenting the festival through the bilingual Instagram content, we experienced the opening ceremony of PHLAFF 2017 at the Kimmel Center!

The second day, we arrived at Reading Terminal Market to document the cooking workshop Family Ingredients: Arroz Con Gandules co-sponsored with the Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival. After filling up with lots of yummy food, we went back to Caplan Hall at UArts to watch lots of incredible films, including Memories of a Penitent Heart directed by Cecilia Aldarondo. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to be there for the screening of my film on the final day of the festival (I had to be at NextDoc)!

Special thanks to Laiza Santos (PHLAFF Street Team Coordinator), Kellie Dinh, and Yessenia García-Lebrón!
