The Philadelphia Women and Nonbinary Filmmakers is a Facebook group dedicated toward re-distributing wealth and resources in the Philadelphia filmmaking community. It is a place for women and nonbinary filmmakers based in Philadelphia to ask questions, share jobs and opportunities, and celebrate accomplishments. The group was founded on January 10, 2019 by Kristal Sotomayor.

The SIFTMedia 215: Sisters in Film & Television is a cooperative that centers Black and Latinx women-identified independent media artists who work in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Our mission is to use our collective strength to amplify the work of and create meaningful opportunities for Black and Latinx Women content creators by providing a community of support to share resources, skills, and creative space.
The Philadelphia chapter of The Video Consortium started virtually in 2021 due to COVID, but has now transitioned into monthly in-person meetings. We meet for happy hour events around the city, and are planning on expanding into screenings, workshops, and more. We are focusing on bringing local non-fiction filmmakers together for community, resources, and job opportunities, and are striving to build a chapter that reflects the Philadelphia film community as a whole. All filmmakers are welcome — BIPOC, LGBTQ+, folks with disabilities, and women are encouraged to apply.
