“To My Motherland” Screening Internationally At The BACKUP_FESTIVAL In Weimar, Germany

Kristal Sotomayor is a bilingual (Spanish + English) documentary filmmaker, cinematographer, and video editor based in Philadelphia. My film, To My Motherland, screened for Backup audiences on Sunday, May 21st. It screened under the special programing "Trautes Heim, Glück Allein," or "Home Sweet Home" in English, a set of eleven curated films pertaining to belonging and acceptance. After the screening, there was a short Q&A with filmmakers.

Awarded Bryn Mawr College Film Studies Program Fellowship

It is my pleasure to announce that the Bryn Mawr College Film Studies Program has awarded me a $1,300 fellowship to attend the Backup_Festival at Bauhaus University in Weimar, Germany! In addition, I have received a Bryn Mawr College Dean's Office Grant and LILAC Career Development Grant to make it to the festival!
